No-Fault Divorces

Good afternoon, I was inspired to write this because of where the Lord led me to read in my Bible this morning and yesterday’s topic of no-fault divorce laws that make it easy for spouses to divorce just because they do not want to make their marriage work. With spiritual eyes, I see that lawyers are treated as prophets and judges are treated as having the final word in the legal system of things. Lawyers are very knowledgeable people, and their words are often taken as being the truth as being counsel of wisdom to those seeking an easy release from their marriage.  Those lawyers who are encouraging people to take advantage of those no-fault divorce creeds do not honor and uphold that marriage is a covenant with God. The judges bring down their gavels and dissolve marriages everyday. The judges issue the final hearings and lay down the law in agreement with the divorcing of couples. However, it’s not over until God says it’s over. He is the Highest Judge of the highest court. And those divorce lawyers are not telling people that they will be held accountable by a power that is higher than any court amongst mankind. They are giving false peace and security to those who feel it is okay to just leave their marriages simply because it’s not working out for them or they think there is someone else they’re better suited to be married to. I know there is a separation between the church and the state–the law of the land; however marriage was created by God. Therefore, God’s laws and marriage between a man and woman are inseparable. In addition, the counsel the lawyers are issuing is unbiblical, and it further cements the wall between spouses as they are advised that to dissolve the marriage–to divorce– will create peace for them.
The verses I was led to are in Ezekiel 13:8-22, “10….because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace; and one built up a wall, and, lo, others daubed it with untempered morter.” “22 Because with lies ye have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, by promising him life:…” I can see the similarities in the false prophets and in the lawyers and counselors who encourage husbands and their wives to divorce. I personally know a couple where the wife was holding on to hope for her marriage; however, her husband was committing adultery and thought life was better with the other woman. He wanted to divorce his wife because he just didn’t want to work things out with her even though he was the one who’d committed adultery many times before. I’m certain that the divorce lawyers made it easy for him to stick with his decision instead of turning from his adulterous, “wicked way”. I believe that just as this account in Ezekiel 13 details, God will make His stand and the laws of the land including everyone in all the lands will know that He is Lord and Judge of judges. I would not want to be one of those selling divorce and perpetuating it for those couples who simply want to divorce each other because they are unhappy, want to marry someone else who they feel makes their life easier, or they do not want to be married any longer because the single life appeals to their flesh. When that day comes, the Lord will knock down all of the walls that have been built against His Word and His covenants.
” “Anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery.” Matthew 19:9
