Prayer for the Irritable Wife

image

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant 5 or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful;”
–1CORINTHIANS 13:4-5
Dear Lord, I’m praying on behalf of myself and any wife who battles irritability. Lord, we need Your help. Fill us with Your love. I don’t understand why we feel like everything– every situation, everything someone says or does that involves me must fit and measure perfectly into what I want to deal with.
Why does it feel like we don’t have the capacity to hold and pour out Your love? Lord, we do not want to cause our spouses and children or other people to walk on eggshells in our company.
Lord, fill us up with a fresh anointing of Your Holy Spirit so we can be emptied of our selves and face every situation and person we encounter in our lives with the innocence of babies–believing and trusting for the best instead of believing we are being inconvenienced or taken advantage of.
Lord, I’m asking You to remove the irritable ways of thinking and speaking and doing things because we don’t want to be abrasive women scouring at our
loved ones and, therefore, causing them to feel unloved and unappreciated. Replace the abrasiveness with gentleness and compassion. Replace our impatience with the willingness to listen completely and fully.
God, our irritability is evidence that we do not trust You to enlarge the territories in our hearts with Your grace–enabling us to have the capacity to face and handle everything that comes our way.
I repent of irritability and believe You for more grace and deliverance from it. In Jesus’ name Amen.
