“What’s a Wife to Do?”

A Wife’s Concern~ “How can I deal with feeling like my voice is not heard? I am feeling discouraged and am really wanting to speak up to him, but his words cut me down.”
~ I’m sorry that you are feeling powerless, but you are empowered by the Spirit of The Lord. By His Word. Look to His Word and know that you do not have to try and push your voice across to your husband. If you feel you have to do this, he is not in a place to listen to you anyhow. 1Peter 3:1 “Wives, in the same way be submissive to your husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives,” Also, 1 Cor. 7:16 “1 Corinthians 7:16 How do you know, wife, whether you will save your husband? Or, how do you know, husband, whether you will save your wife?” I do not know your situation, but your prayers to God and your focusing on building yourself up/strengthening yourself in the Lord, are more effective than anything you can say as a retort to your husband. Dont try to answer him back in the way he speaks to you. Proverbs 26:4-5: “4 Do not answer a fool according to his folly,
or you yourself will be just like him.
5 Answer a fool according to his folly,
or he will be wise in his own eyes.”
Focus on pleasing the Lord and praying continually for your husband that his ways do not cause you distress and be a cause for you to stumble into sin of thinking wrathfully. God does not want you to be downcast. He wants you to allow Him to work in your husband’s heart by using your prayers. A wonderful and anointed book that I’ve read is Martha Peace’s “The Excellent Wife”. She deals with how a wife is to Biblically respond to her husband’s sinful behavior. Keep praying for him bc his mistreatment of you is noted by God. 1 Peter 3:7 “Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.” Stay encouraged!
